April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross in Tokyo to win her third gold in the next few days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic Gold. In fact, at 39 this may be her final chance to accomplish this. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even If we play our best I believe we can win the gold medal." "I'm also going to try some luck." Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents and her sister. The athletic pursuits she pursued continued at Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several sports. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball, as well as basketball, running and track. She clearly was the top player in indoor volleyball. During her high school career she played middle blocker outside hitter and setter in the court for volleyball as per her bio at the college. She was awarded the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999, for her performance. In 2000, the Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman have been continuing to play from 2017. However, Ross was a major player on the beach volleyball circuit prior to the pair. In fact, she won several major championships while playing with two different partners, among them the volleyball legend. From 2007 to 2013 she was in a partnership with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the 2009 World Championships. They won a Silver Medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team which took home the Olympic gold medal in 2012 in London, beat them out to win the gold medal. Ross was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's resignation. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics 2016. Ross began her collegiate career with the USC Trojans in her high school days. This was years before Ross made her debut on the beach, and then became a professional. Her experience at USC was quite impressive. In 2000, as a freshman she fought her way to Pac-10 and NCAA All-American Freshman of Year awards and was also an All-American. She was also a key player to help the Trojans reach it to the Final Four. In her sophomore year, she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to repeat as an All-American. Through her two final years of participation in the Trojans program, she guided the Trojans to winning a national title every year. She was a fantastic volleyball player, winning the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the top female volleyball player in the NCAA. Ross was an international relations student at USC. Margie Ross wasn't able to see her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. Ross lost her mother to breast cancer in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Her mother is still very dearly. Margie has inspired her in her life and on the beaches.
