Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston was born to a musically inclined family on August 9th, 1963. She was born in Newark New Jersey the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston (nee Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. as well as a cousin of the singing sensation Dionne Warwick. In Newark Whitney started singing with the choir of the church when she was a young child. at the age of 15, she accompanied her mother the background vocals for Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978. In the following years, she was a backing vocals to Lou Rawls & Jermaine jackson and even her mother. The singer was first a featured vocalist for the The New York-based New York Funk band Material. Her vocal quality work earned her the attention of the major label Arista where she signed up in 1983. Whitney Houston, her debut album released in 1985, was the most-sold album by an unproven singer. It featured a number of hits including How Will I know You Give Good Love Saving all My Love For you and The greatest Love of All. It was instrumental in her achieving seven US chart-topping singles consecutively which surpasses the Beatles. The album was sold out of three million copies in its initial year in the US and then went on to achieve a worldwide sales of 25 million, earning them the first six Grammys. Its Whitney 1987 album, with the songs Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as hits, helped build upon her success. The 1992 film The Bodyguard sealed her spot in the top 20 most-sellers ever. Although the film and her performance in it weren't widely praised the soundtrack album and her cover to the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You made the charts of albums and singles for a period of time and sold over 44 million copies across the globe. That same year she got married to Bobby Brown who was a former New Edition singer. She had their only daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. They were married in the month of March, 1993. Her daily drug usage was well documented.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchor and political reporter.
